FAQs about the Flemington Kensington Community Lunch
Q. What is it?
A. Anyone in need of a wholesome hot mail is invited to a free lunch as part of the ‘Flemington Kensington Community Lunch’.
Guests are treated to a two-course meal, including soup and a hot meal or salad, followed by fresh fruit and tea or coffee.
Q. When and where is the lunch hosted?
A. The lunch is held at St. Brendan’s Hall, Church Street Flemington on every Monday at noon.
Q. Why is the lunch hosted for free each week?
A. About one in 10 Melburnians are malnourished, can’t afford to buy enough food, or experience anxiety over their lack of access to food.
Q. Who provides the food?
A.The weekly lunch is an initiative of six Moonee Valley churches which joined forces in 2009 to help feed and support anyone who is down on their luck.
Fresh food is supplied, free of charge, by Second Bite and the Victorian Food Bank.
Q. Am I able to make a donation or volunteer my time to the ‘Flemington Kensington Community Lunch’?
